Update: Lafayette College Baseball Goes for First Win, and Lead, of the Season Against JMU

Update: Lafayette won the first game of the Feb. 24 doubleheader 9-6. This is not only the first Leopard victory of 2019, Lafayette also scored more runs than in its previous four games (five).

Lafayette College’s baseball team will take on James Madison University in Virginia tomorrow, going for its first win of the season. The teams will play a doubleheader starting at noon.

The 0-4 Leopards are yet to hold a lead in a game. Lafayette lost its first three in North Carolina to Elon University, and dropped the first of the three-game set to James Madison yesterday.

Elon is picked to win the Colonial Athletic Association, while the Dukes, also in the CAA, are picked to finish sixth in the nine-team league. JMU is 5-0.

Lafayette was chosen to finish sixth and last in a preseason Patriot League poll.

The Leopards have been outscored 5 to 27 so far this season, but Friday’s 5-3 loss to the Dukes was the closest game of the year.
