Tyber Medical LLC has been awarded a $225,000 National Science Foundation Grant to research a device that would use nanotechnology to prevent orthopedic surgical-site infections.
The Bethlehem, Pennsylvania-based company said in a statement distributed by PRNewswire that the technology it’s studying would prevent infections without using pharmaceutical products or antimicrobial agents. Bacteria can develop resistance to those substances, limiting their use.
Tyber Medical was founded in 2012, according to the statement, and makes orthopedic devices.
